A new ALDI distribution centre based on energy piles in Switzerland (Agust 2007)
In Domdidier, located in the French part of Switzerland, a distribution center of the German discounter ALDI is being built. The site covers an area of 125.000 m² and the distribution center will provide jobs for 180 employees.
Because of the soil conditions the building has to be based on 7.500 foundation piles, each with a length of 35 m. In addition to their static function, 400 of these piles are used as energy piles to cool or heat the building which will ensure agreeable working conditions in the building.
The energy concept for the edifice was planned by the reputable Austrian consultant ATP. Since March 2007 ENERCRET has been working on site and will have finished its part by the end of this year.
